I have learnt about Lewis and Clark expedition on October
1804.
1 October 1804 - the expeditions
move up the Missouri
and find indian tribe shaman.
4 October 1804 - discovering
new island and new village.
5 October 1804 - frosty
morning
6 October 1804 - great
fall, expedition had observed for the birds that flew in warmer
climes
7 October 1804 - meeting
with large bear.
8 October 1804 - stumbled
upon a village where was living trieb Arikara.
11 October 1804 - сaptain met with сhief of the
trieb and they had a breakfast together.
12 October 1804 - court
martial of John Newman.
15 October 1804 - Lewis
and Clark and their party camped somewhere near the island seen at upper right.
For the past two weeks they had been in the homeland of the Arikara, or
Sahnish, people, who lived in earth lodges and raised corn, beans, pumpkins,
watermelons, squashes, and mild Indian tobacco.
16 October 1804 - сaptain speak with one's сhief of the indian trieb
about traditions and fears.
20 October 1804 - the expeditions
first encounter with a grizzly or “White bear,” and that day Clark saw
several fresh track of those animals which is 3 times as large as a mans
track. Lewis’s short entry for the day recounted the misadventures of
Pierre Cruzatte, who ran afoul of one of each.
21 October 1804 - very cold
day, they were near villages of Mandan in North Dakota .
22 October 1804 - discovering
new villages, health problem - rheumatism.
25 October 1804 - the expeditions
make capm near Mandan 's
villages
26 October 1804 - friendly
tribe Mandan ; big
welcome from the corps
27 October 1804
- the expeditions move up the Missouri
and visited 2 mandan 's villages.
28 October 1804 - windy
day, captains moving across villages.
29 October 1804
- conversation with the chief, fire on the prairie.
